Baby Photography: Ezra’s HOLIDAY Edition

Today’s edition of Babyyyyyy Photography: It’s Baby Ezra again – aged 7 months!

Location: University of Memphis area

Here’s the story: I saw a mobile phone photo of Ezra sitting next to his family’s Christmas tree. I knew immediately knew that we had to do a mini photo shoot to commemorate Ezra’s first Christmas. Because he is too presh. Too too presh. His parents were on the same page about the matter, and the rest, as they say, is history. We had a mini photo session  in his home, which was so great because I think little ones are sometimes more at ease in familiar surroundings. Plus, Ezra’s mom and dad have great style, so shooting in their home is extra awesome.

This smile? Ezra’s reaction when his daddy came home from running an errand. Love it!

I just love seeing this little family unit interact with each other. I was showing my mother some of these photos, and she said “Ooooh,  you can tell they love that baby so much. That makes me so happy.” I couldn’t agree more!

This might be my favorite shot of the whole afternoon though:

I just think this shot says it all!

Baby Photography: Ezra Edition

Today’s edition of Babyyyyyy Photography: Baby Ezra! A 4 month old little man.

Location: University of Memphis area

Things I loved about shooting little Ezra:

1. Ezra’s nursery.

The nursery was totally fab! I felt like it could have been in a magazine.

2. Ezra’s shoe collection.

So. Fly. Baby Air Jordans!

3. The rug.

There is this awesome rug in Ezra’s room, and it made a wonderful backdrop for photos we did in  his nursery.

4. All of the neat personalized items!

Like with other baby portrait sessions I’ve done, Ezra’s mom and dad had special things they wanted to have included in the photos of him. There was a wooden Curious George toy that Ezra’s grandmother bought for him, and then there were all these things with Ezra’s name and initials on them. Everything in the nursery was personalized for Mr. E!

Once we’d finished taking photos in Ezra’s nursery, we decided to pack up and head to a nearby park to do the rest of the photos.

And, as I was hoping would happen, I was able to get some casual shots of Ezra’s parents with him. What an awesome little family they are!

Baby Photography: Silas Edition

Now’s the time, boys and girls, that I write about photo shoots I’ve had with babies recently.

First up: Baby Silas! A cheerful 9 month old.

Location: Downtown Memphis

Baby Silas’ mom and grandma were kind enough to meet with me downtown to get some photos of this sweet little fella. He was an absolute DOLL the entire shoot!

One of my favorite aspects of doing baby photo shoots is when the parents bring along special, meaningful items to include in some of the shots. On this shoot with Silas, his mother brought the toy guitar his soldier father bought for Silas.

They were also kind enough to bring along this BEAUTIFUL blanket that a lady from the family’s church made for Silas. I was really pleased to incorporate the special blanket into Silas’ photos.

The photo shoot with Baby Silas was especially meaningful for me to do, because his father is in the military and has been deployed since Silas was a few months old. I love the fact that I have the ability to capture this baby boy, and, thanks to the internet, the images can make it across the ocean for his daddy to see.

Twelve Forgotten Frames

I dropped a roll of film at MPS some months back, which had been shot through my Holga some months before that. I finally got remembered to swing by MPS to pick up said film today and, frankly, was taken aback at how dated the photos were and how it seemed as if they were taken a lifetime ago.

I really had not a clue in the world as to what the film contained. And it’s interesting to see what I chose to photograph on this roll – medium format, 6×6 cameras only yield twelve frames, and as a result,  I’m usually kinda “choicey”  as to what I shoot. While I don’t consider all of these photos to be “keepers”, I like the idea of looking at these twelve frames of film in a broad sense, rather than “oh, that day that it snowed in Memphis” or “oh, that day a group of us went to Memorial Park.” It’s just pleasant for me to look upon them, as is. I hope you will enjoy them displayed this way, too.
