Christmas on Central

I love photographing store window displays. I also have a major “thing” for the creativity and whimsy used in creating the window displays year round (not just at Christmas!) at Flashback on Central. In December, I was testing out a camera which a friend had sent me around that time, the Canon Canonet GIII QL 17  (a compact rangefinder camera -I will write a full review of it on here soon.) I had delighted in doing test shooting of Flashback with my Lomo the Christmas prior, so thought I might take the Canonet for a whirl there, too.

I was very happy with the results! It’s nice living in a neighborhood with so many photo-worthy spots nearby, because it seems I always have some piece of photo equipment or another that I need to test!

Family Photography: The Jobe Family

I was very pleased to be invited into the home of Baby Ezra’s grandmother the week after Christmas, to make some photos of Ezra with his cousins, as well as to snap a few photos of the grown-ups while they were all under one roof.

When I first arrived, the baby was asleep. So, we started out getting some photos of Naomi and Fay, Ezra’s cousins. I was pretty enamored with the girls’ little gray/pink/cream ensembles. I mean, look at their little shoes!

When Ezra got up from his nap, everybody wanted to pose with the newest addition to their family. Who could blame them? He’s so handsome, after all!

The children’s grandmother had set up a little gingerbread house building station for the kiddies. It was such a good “memory maker,” I thought!

The rest of our time together was spent doing different groupings of the various family members – we packed a megaton of family photos into this session!

Baby Photography: {Surprise!} Silas Edition

Today’s edition of Babyyyyyy Photography: It’s Silas  again – aged almost 12 months!

Location: Cooper-Young, Memphis

I was not able to blog these photos before Christmas  because they were, in fact, taken as a surprise for Silas’ mommy and daddy [who was on leave from Iraq for Christmas!] I met up with Silas’ Nana for lunch and a little “Silas’ First Christmas” shoot. It was a ton of fun!  Silas was being a real pistol that day, so much so that a woman at a nearby table even came over to tell us how much she was enjoying watching us play with the baby.

By the way, I have it on good authority that the photos Silas gave his mommy and daddy were a BIG hit on Christmas. I was so happy I was able to help make that happen!
